Add a log entry

In Loggy, a log entry is any record you add to a vehicle’s history — a service, an upgrade, a fault, or a change. Open the vehicle, tap Add Log, pick the type, fill in the details, attach any receipts or photos, and save. It’s the core of keeping a complete, trustworthy history.

What it does

A log entry captures one event in your vehicle’s life so you never have to rely on memory or a shoebox of receipts again. Every entry is timestamped, searchable, and included when you export a report or transfer the vehicle to a new owner. Over time your entries become the full service story of the vehicle.

When to use it

Add a log entry any time something happens to the vehicle worth remembering: an oil change, a new set of tyres, a repair, a modification, a warning light, or a part you replaced yourself. It works the same for any asset — car, motorcycle, boat, tractor, or tools — so use it whenever you’d otherwise scribble a note or keep a receipt.

How to use it

  1. Open the vehicle you want to log against from your vehicle list.
  2. Tap Add Log (the + / Add button on the vehicle screen).
  3. Choose the entry type: Service, Upgrade, Fault, or Change.
  4. Enter the details — date, odometer/hours reading, a short title, and any notes.
  5. Tap Attach to add receipts, photos, documents, videos, or a voice note (optional but recommended).
  6. Tap Save. The entry now appears in the vehicle’s history, newest first.

Examples

Example 1 — Logging a routine oil change

Scenario: You just changed the oil and filter at home. Setup: Entry type Service, title “Oil & filter change”, odometer 84,500 km, note “5W-30 synthetic, Ryco filter”, photo of the receipt attached. Result: A dated service record with the receipt attached — ready to prove the history when you sell.

Example 2 — Tracking a fault before it’s fixed

Scenario: A warning light appears but you can’t get to the mechanic yet. Setup: Entry type Fault, title “Check-engine light — rough idle”, note “Comes on when cold”, voice note describing the sound. Result: A record of when the issue started, so you (and your mechanic) have the full picture later.

FAQs

Q: Can I add a log entry for something that happened last year? A: Yes — just set the entry’s date to when it actually happened. Entries sort by date, so your history stays accurate no matter when you enter it.

Q: What’s the difference between the entry types? A: Service = routine maintenance, Upgrade = a modification or added part, Fault = a problem or warning, Change = anything else worth noting. Pick whichever fits best — you can edit it later.

Q: Is there a limit on how many entries or attachments I can add? A: No. Unlimited vehicles, unlimited log entries, and unlimited attachments are all included free, with no ads.

Q: Will my entries be safe if I lose my phone? A: Yes. Entries sync to the cloud, so they’re restored when you log in on a new device. See Where are my files stored?.
