Transfer a vehicle’s history to a new owner
In Loggy, you can hand over a vehicle’s complete history to its new owner by email. Open the vehicle, choose Transfer, enter the buyer’s email, and confirm. They receive the full logbook — services, faults, upgrades, and attachments — giving them a verifiable record and giving you a stronger resale story.
What it does
Transfer moves a vehicle’s entire Loggy history to someone else’s account via their email address. Instead of a crumpled folder of receipts, the new owner gets a clean, complete digital record they can keep building on. A documented history is one of the simplest ways to increase a vehicle’s resale value and buyer trust.
When to use it
Use Transfer when you sell or give away a vehicle and want the new owner to have its full maintenance record. It’s equally useful for dealers, car yards, and fleet operators handing a vehicle to its next keeper.
How to use it
- Open the vehicle you’re transferring.
- Open the vehicle’s menu and choose Transfer (or Transfer ownership).
- Enter the new owner’s email address — double-check it’s correct.
- Review what’s included (history, entries, and attachments) and confirm.
- The new owner gets an email to receive the vehicle into their Loggy account.
Before you transfer: consider exporting a PDF report first so you keep a copy of the history for your own records.
Examples
Example 1 — Selling a used car privately
Scenario: You’re selling your car and the buyer wants proof of servicing. Setup: Open the car → Transfer → buyer’s email → confirm. Result: The buyer receives a full, dated service history in their own Loggy account — a strong trust signal that helps justify your asking price.
Example 2 — Fleet vehicle handover
Scenario: A business retires a work ute and sells it on. Setup: Fleet manager transfers the vehicle to the purchaser’s email. Result: The new owner inherits every service and repair record, and the business’s account is tidied up.
FAQs
Q: Does the new owner need a Loggy account? A: They’ll receive the transfer by email and access the history in Loggy — they can set up a free account to receive it if they don’t have one.
Q: Do my attachments (receipts, photos) transfer too? A: Yes — the transfer includes the vehicle’s full history and its attachments, not just a summary.
Q: Will I still have the vehicle after I transfer it? A: Transferring hands the vehicle over to the new owner. Export a PDF report first if you want to keep a copy of the history for yourself. See Export a PDF report.
Q: I sent it to the wrong email — what do I do? A: Contact us straight away via Contact support with the vehicle and the email you used, and we’ll help sort it out.
Limitations & known issues
- Enter the new owner’s email carefully — the history goes to whatever address you confirm.
- If you want a personal copy of the record after transferring, export a PDF before you confirm.
