Chevrolet Silverado 1500 maintenance schedule

Covers: 2024 model year, US market, Silverado 1500. Last checked: 29 October 2026.

A 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has its tyres rotated and its oil life checked every 7,500 miles (12,000 km). The oil itself is changed when the oil life system says so, and at least once a year. The bigger jobs are spread out: cabin air filter at 22,500 miles, spark plugs at 60,000 or 97,500 miles depending on the engine, and coolant at 150,000 miles.

Always check your owner's manual. This page sums up the manufacturer's published schedule in our own words. Your vehicle's year, engine, country and the way you drive can all change the intervals.

Heavy use and tough conditions

Severe service: heavy city traffic in heat, hills, frequent towing, short trips

GM adds two jobs for trucks that are mostly driven this way: change the automatic transmission fluid and filter every 45,000 miles (72,000 km), and change the transfer case fluid on 4WD trucks every 50,000 miles (80,500 km). If the trip is 4 miles (6 km) or less most days, the oil life indicator may call for oil earlier than 7,500 miles.

Heavy-duty use

GM treats towing trailers or other loads all the time, tow trucks, courier work and patrol vehicles as severe conditions needing more frequent maintenance, and says spark plugs may need replacing earlier. For off-road, farm, mining, forestry or plowing use, GM suggests talking to a dealer about the right intervals.

Regional differences

This is the US schedule from the Chevrolet owner manual, which also covers Canada and Mexico. GM publishes separate manuals for other model years and markets, so check the one for your truck.

This page covers the Silverado 1500 only, not the Silverado EV or the 2500 and 3500 heavy duty trucks. The manual lists extra owner checks and a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection that we have not copied here.

How to track this in Loggy

Loggy is a free maintenance logbook app for iOS and Android. The Silverado is the kind of truck that often earns its keep, so a record matters. Add it, log each oil change with the odometer reading, and set a yearly reminder so the once-a-year oil change doesn't slip. If it's a work truck, Loggy also does prestart inspections.

The free plan has unlimited vehicles, reminders, PDF export and vehicle transfer, and no ads.
