Toyota RAV4 maintenance schedule

Covers: 2024 model year, US market, petrol RAV4 (not the Hybrid or Prime). Last checked: 29 October 2026.

A 2024 Toyota RAV4 (petrol, US) needs a service visit every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. Toyota's guide has the oil and filter changed every 10,000 miles or 12 months, and the air filters every 30,000 miles. Four-wheel-drive models also get the transfer case oil changed every 30,000 miles.

Always check your owner's manual. This page sums up the manufacturer's published schedule in our own words. Your vehicle's year, engine, country and the way you drive can all change the intervals.

Heavy use and tough conditions

Towing, dirt roads, short cold trips and heavy idling

If most of your driving is like this, Toyota wants the oil and filter changed every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whatever oil you use. That covers dirt and dusty roads, towing or heavy loads, repeated trips under 5 miles when it is below 32°F (0°C), and lots of idling or low-speed driving.

Transmission and differential oil

The normal schedule has no automatic transmission fluid change. For towing, heavy loads and lots of idling, the guide adds a change at 60,000 and 120,000 miles. Four-wheel-drive RAV4s that tow or carry heavy loads also get the rear differential oil changed at every 15,000-mile mark.

Brake fluid

The guide gives no replacement interval for brake fluid. It asks for the level and condition to be checked at each visit.

Regional differences

This is the US schedule from Toyota USA. Toyota's guides for other countries are separate documents, and their intervals may differ. So may other engines and model years. Check the guide for your country and year.

This page does not cover the RAV4 Hybrid, RAV4 Prime or other model years. Toyota publishes a separate guide for each. The km figures are our rounded conversions, not Toyota's.
