Heavy use and tough conditions
Chain care in wet weather
Yamaha wants the chain checked and lubricated every 1,000 km, and also after washing the bike, riding in the rain or riding on wet roads. It asks for an O-ring chain lubricant.
Repeat the cycle after 50,000 km
Once the chart runs out at 40,000 km (plus the 50,000 km swingarm grease job), Yamaha says to start again from the 10,000 km column.
Regional differences
This is the metric edition of the manual, with kilometre intervals. Yamaha publishes separate manuals for other countries, and their schedules may differ. Check the one for your country and year.
This page does not cover the MT-07 Tracer, XSR700 or earlier and later MT-07 model years. Yamaha's full chart has many more inspect and lubricate lines (suspension, bearings, cables, fasteners) that we have not copied here. Yamaha marks a lot of this work as dealer work. The mile figures are our rounded conversions.
How to track this in Loggy
Loggy is a free maintenance logbook app for iOS and Android. With the 1,000 km chain lube plus the 10,000 km oil change, a logbook saves a lot of guessing. Add your MT-07, log every service with the odometer reading, and set a yearly reminder as a backstop for the annual oil check.
- Log each service with its date, reading, cost, receipt and photos.
- Set a reminder for the next service. Loggy reminders go off on a date, not at an odometer reading, so pick the date from how much you usually drive.
- Add your old paper records so the whole history is in one place.
- Export the history as a PDF or transfer it to the next owner when you sell.
The free plan has unlimited vehicles, reminders, PDF export and vehicle transfer, and no ads.
