Prestart inspection checklist for a small fleet

A prestart check is a short walk-around before a vehicle goes out. Loggy runs it on the driver's phone: they mark each item pass, fail or not applicable, add a note or photo, sign, and the result is saved to that vehicle's history.

What a basic check covers

Loggy's Light Vehicle template has 11 checks. It is a good starting list for a van, ute or car.

SectionChecks
OutsideTyres and pressure, lights and indicators, body damage, number plate
FluidsEngine oil, coolant, washer fluid
CabSeatbelt, horn, wipers, warning lights

This is a general checklist. Check your vehicle's manual and the rules where you work for anything you are required to check.

Run it in Loggy

  1. Open the vehicle and tap Inspect, or tap Add (+) then Inspection / Prestart.
  2. Pick a template. Light Vehicle is suggested, or tap Create your own for a custom list.
  3. Add the location and odometer reading.
  4. Go down the list and tap P (pass), F (fail) or N (not applicable). Tap the clip on any item to add a note and photo, even on a pass.
  5. Tap Review & Sign, draw a signature, then tap Submit Inspection.

Loggy saves the inspection with the date, time and who did it. If nothing failed, it shows "No defects". Full inspections guide

When something fails

A failed item goes straight onto the vehicle's Active Faults list, so it does not get forgotten at the end of the day. You can clear it once it is fixed, and it moves to Cleared Faults. Track faults

Heavier vehicles and equipment

A truck, trailer or excavator needs a different list from a ute. Build your own template for each kind of vehicle or machine, so the driver only sees the checks that apply to it.

Checking the history later

Open Inspections in the top-left menu, choose a vehicle, and filter by All, Defects or This week. Each inspection shows the date, time, who did it and whether it passed or failed.

If drivers log on their own phones, Loggy Premium lets you invite staff to a vehicle so everyone builds one shared history. Share a vehicle
